Blast Off!

The rocket, the 'Star Hopper,' rumbled and shook! Zoya, a bright-eyed girl with purple pigtails, and Orlo, a fluffy, blue alien with three antennas, were ready for their mission to Mars! Zoya checked the controls. ‘All systems go!’ she announced. Orlo wiggled with excitement. 'Woo-hoo! Mars, here we come!' Do *you* know what astronauts need to take with them on a space journey? (Pause for thought)

Through the Stars

Zoom! The Star Hopper soared through space. Sparkling stars whizzed by like tiny diamonds. Orlo pointed. ‘Look, Zoya! A constellation! It looks like a giant space-squirrel!’ Zoya giggled. 'You have a great imagination, Orlo!' They played ‘I Spy’ with the planets. Can *you* point out the biggest planet in our solar system? (Hint: it's reddish-brown!).

Red Planet Ahead!

‘We’re approaching Mars!’ Zoya announced. The planet grew larger and larger, a swirling red and orange marble. Orlo pressed his nose against the window. ‘Wow! It really *is* red!’ They prepared for landing, carefully guiding the Star Hopper towards a flat, dusty plain.

A Strange Discovery

Thump! The Star Hopper landed safely. Zoya and Orlo put on their space helmets and opened the hatch. They stepped out onto the red soil and…bumped into a small, robotic creature! It was a little rusty and had one wobbly wheel. “Hello?” Zoya called out cautiously.

Rusty's Dilemma

The robot, whose name was Rusty, beeped sadly. ‘My solar panel is broken,’ Rusty beeped. ‘I can’t collect rock samples for the Mars museum anymore!’ Zoya and Orlo looked at each other. Rusty was so important to Mars! 'Don't worry Rusty,' said Zoya, 'We'll help you!'. What do *you* think they could use to fix Rusty’s solar panel?

Teamwork to the Rescue

Zoya remembered a special reflective material in their toolkit. Carefully, she and Orlo used it to patch up Rusty’s solar panel. Orlo held the pieces steady with his extra antenna! It wasn't perfect, but it worked! Rusty’s lights blinked brightly. “Beep! Thank you! Thank you!” Rusty whirred happily.

Rock Samples & New Friends

With Rusty’s help, Zoya and Orlo collected lots of interesting rock samples for the Mars museum. They learned about different kinds of Martian rocks and even discovered a sparkling crystal cave! They waved goodbye to Rusty, promising to visit again soon.

Home Sweet Earth

The Star Hopper blasted off from Mars, carrying precious rock samples and wonderful memories. 'We did it, Orlo!' Zoya exclaimed. 'We helped Rusty and explored a whole new planet!'
